Original Souvenir
Original Souvenir is a cozy shop at the heart of Prague. We sell traditional souvenirs such as hand-painted Moravian Easter eggs, ceramic goods, embroidered blankets, wooden toys, Christmas decorations, marionettes and more. All products are handmade in the Czech Republic.
The shop is tucked away in a small alley running from the main Wenceslas Square there is a shop offering traditional Czech souvenirs named Original souvenir. The shop, as the only one in the whole of Prague, specialises in traditional hand-painted Easter eggs "Kraslice" and sells them all year long. "Kraslice" is an egg shell which is blown out and then hand painted. It can take several hours to artistically paint one Easter egg.
The shop offers Easter eggs of various sizes, including hen, duck, goose, or ostrich eggs that are painted in various styles (Cibulak, scratch-carved, Praha, Madeira). All souvenirs are hand-made and are typical for the Czech Republic. The offer includes also traditional Czech national costume dolls, ceramics from the Chodsko region, scarves, wooden toys, amber magnets, original photographs, hand-made shirts for children as well as adults and many more.

Hand painted Eastern eggs
The oldest decorated Easter eggs are 2300 years old, the first historically documented coloring of eggs is from 1290 when King Edward I had a golden color of 450 eggs as a gift. Easter eggs, according to some historical considerations, appeared 5,000 years before Christ, but of course it can not be proven. However, the painting and decorating of Easter eggs is not related to Christian traditions, because the egg dyed long before the ecclesiastical Easter holidays.
